We know this can be a little uneasy and sometimes a confusing process. Rest assured, we will be here to guide you through every step of the process, making sure you receive the necessary time, care and treatments in order for you to live a healthier and happier life.

Of course, not every treatment center is alike and not every rehab program has the same procedures, policies and guidelines for their clients. Below are some of our most frequently asked questions regarding everything from admission policies, financial responsibilities, inpatient and outpatient procedures, do’s and don’ts while in treatment, as well as specialized treatment options and services that are available. If you have any additional questions or more specific inquiries, contact one of our knowledgeable admissions specialists and they will be more than happy to assist you. We want to make the process as simple and seamless as possible. By allowing us to focus on the logistics of your rehab stay, you focus on your physical, emotional, and social health.

Insurance and Finance

At Hotel California by the Sea Ohio we will work with you to create a payment solution that will best fit your needs when you decide to receive treatment at any of our inpatient or outpatient programs.

What insurances do you accept?

We accept most major insurance plans. We are in-network with many insurance providers to help insure the best possible care for our clients. Check out our dedicated insurance page regarding insurance verification, policy options and financial obligations. Any of our admissions specialists will also be happy to assist you with any questions regarding insurance and help you verify your benefits for behavioral health treatments.

Do you accept state insurance plans?

No. We currently do not accept state insurance plans. But rest assured, we will be happy to work with any of our clients through payment and financing options, should they decide to seek treatment with our drug and alcohol rehab program. We will work with you to arrange a financial solution to best fit your needs.

What if I am unable to pay out of pocket (OOP)?

At Hotel California by the Sea Ohio, we will gladly work with each individual patient and examine any financial situations they may have.

We know stepping into rehab is a huge step towards the improvement of your well-being. We also know it can be a daunting process and one of uncertainty. Our team of experienced medical and clinical professionals at Hotel California by the Sea Ohio will make sure that while in treatment with us, you will have all the tools, resources and support you need to heal from your addictions.

What should I bring to treatment?

Personal Items
• Reading material that is interesting or motivational for you
• Pictures of family members and loved ones to help you stay inspired and motivated
• Medication, it its original package or container
• Driver’s license, passport, insurance card, etc, as identification
• A journal or diary to document your journey through recovery
• A music device, like an iPod Nano, that does not have Internet access (if you bring electronics that do have Internet access, they will be locked up while you are on blackout period)
• A prepaid Visa or MasterCard to buy needed items while in treatment
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste
• Soap
• Shampoo
• Deodorant
• Hair styling equipment
• Hair brush or comb
• Face wash
• Moisturizer
• Feminine hygiene products
• Other toiletries you normally use

Clothing
• Pack comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing for 2 weeks – Cincinnati, Ohio’s temperature ranges from Winter lows of 20℉ to Summer highs of 86℉
• Keep the season in mind, dressing in layers, and preparing for temperature fluctuations from daytime to nighttime
• Overly provocative clothing, clothing that advertises or illustrates drug and/or alcohol use, clothing that contains explicit language, gang-affiliated clothing, and other clothing that depicts hate speech or hate crimes, etc, will be confiscated
• Pack comfy footwear for daytime
• Tennis shoes for activities and sports
• Flip flops
• Slippers
• If you have orthotics or prescription footwear, please bring them
• Pants for cooler weather
• Shorts: Shorts should be no less than 6 inches from top of one’s thigh
• One or two “dressy” outfits for special occasions such as weekend outings

Can I smoke or vape?

Yes. All of our residential and outpatient facilities have a designated smoking or vaping area for our clients who wish to smoke or vape.

Should I bring my medications?

Yes. Clients are allowed to bring any necessary medications and prescriptions to rehab if they are properly labeled and in their original container and packaging.

Can clients leave the premises during treatment?

Once the client has finished their “blackout period,” they are free to participate in outside activities requiring sign out approval. If clients plan on being away for long periods of time, they may speak with their clinical team to discuss the appropriate actions for leaving the treatment facility.

What is a blackout period?

A blackout period is a specific period of time during the beginning of treatment where a client has limited access to life outside of inpatient rehab programs. This is a critical time for clients as they are fully focused on building a full and healthy foundation for their sobriety. They will be given the time, space, and environment to focus on their recovery and allow them the opportunity to establish their own goals for overall treatment.

Am I allowed to have visitors?

We understand that having a family support system is an important part of recovering from a drug or alcohol addiction. Family visits are scheduled with each client’s clinical team.

Can I bring my pet?

Unfortunately, we do not allow animals or pets in any of our treatment facilities.

Exercise and physical activity opportunities?

Patients within residential programs have ample opportunity to participate in physical activities and various fitness activities throughout the duration of their stay in the program.

What if you are in the middle of school/college/university?

Most of the time when clients enter drug and alcohol rehab, their educational career paths are put on hold until they can recover. Within our outpatient program, we offer specialized services such as the career resources program, where clients can seek out services pertaining to their continuing educational goals.

What if you have a full-time job?

For clients who need a more flexible treatment option, our outpatient programs such as PHP and IOP allow our clients to continue receiving substance use disorder treatment and support while they participate in outside activities and responsibilities such as a job or schooling.

Who do you treat?

At Hotel California by the Sea Ohio, we treat men, women and young adults from all walks of life at our treatment programs. Our premiere drug and alcohol rehab program attracts individuals from across the country, where we help them successfully recover from their addictions.

Do you accommodate the LGBTQ community?

At our drug and alcohol rehab, we help people of all backgrounds. Our clinical physicians and psychiatrists can assist our patients in their needs pertaining to the LGBTQ issues through group and individual therapy. We will also help our patients in locating the best addiction recovery support group that is LGBTQ friendly.

Do you take teens and young adults?

Hotel California by the Sea Ohio has a specialized age-appropriate program dedicated to the addiction recovery needs of teens and young adults.

Treatment Options and Services

Our substance use disorder recovery program offers a multitude of treatment options for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. We offer everything from medically managed detox, residential treatments, outpatient treatments, effective behavioral therapies and speciality social services.

What is the difference between inpatient and outpatient rehab?

Inpatient rehab programs focus on initial medical detox, medication management and intense therapies. Outpatient rehab programs allow patients to slowly begin transitioning back into the real world while still providing support services and recommended group and individual therapies.

Do you treat co-occurring health diagnoses?

Many individuals in drug and alcohol rehab are also suffering from co-occurring mental health issues that should be treated alongside the substance addiction. Hotel California by the Sea Ohio believes in a holistic approach to recovery and treats every aspect of a patient’s addiction whether it is medically or emotionally.

Do you offer Vivitrol shots?

Yes. We offer various anti-craving medications such as Vivitrol and Campral. Upon initial intake into any of our rehab programs, each client will receive a full medical assessment from a team of physicians, psychiatrists and other clinical professionals, where they will determine the best treatment plan and options that may include medication assisted treatments (MAT).

Do you offer family therapy?

We believe family therapy can be an integral role in the success of a client’s recovery from drugs and alcohol. Hotel California by the Sea Ohio offers a family program that consists of group and individual family therapy, marriage counseling and our designated family day. Through family programming, clients and their loved ones will receive education, support and the necessary services needed to heal not only the client, but the entire family unit that has been affected by addiction.

Are children allowed to participate in the family program?

Children who are aged 16 and over are allowed to participate in our once a month family day program. We highly encourage all family members to participate in this unique program, where loved ones can openly communicate, learn about the disease and how it affects everyone in the family, as well as build new techniques and strategies on how to best support their loved one who is suffering from a drug or alcohol addiction.

Is a 12-step support group required?

All of our patients enrolled in outpatient programming are strongly encouraged to participate in some sort of addiction recovery support group as per their individual treatment plan.

How often will I meet with the case manager or counselor and will I have many opportunities onsite with them during my stay?

Meetings and sessions with case managers and psychiatrists will vary and depend on each individual patient’s needs. During residential care, patients can expect to receive meetings a minimum of two times a week by a therapist and two times a week by their case manager.

How long does treatment last?

Treatment length depends on each patient and the severity of their addiction. On average, a typical treatment timeline is about 90 days.

How long is detox?

The length of medical detox depends on the severity of a patient’s substance addiction. The average length is from 5-7 days.

What is the recovery addiction process?

Medical Detox – patients receive 24/7 care from medical physicians and clinical
detox nurses as they safely detox. Some patients who suffer from painful
withdrawal symptoms may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
Residential (RTC) – patients receive continued around the clock care and begin focusing more on intensive cognitive and behavioral therapies. This is where co-occurring mental health disorders are diagnosed.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – patients will continue group and individual therapies as per their treatment plan recommendation as well as begin utilizing other services such as the career resource center and sober transitional living.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) – patients begin practicing coping skills and techniques learned from therapies and implementing them into real life situations as they prepare to leave a more controlled environment into the real world.
